My interest in photography began in the late 70's when I was in high school.  I shot black and white photos of my friends' bands with my 35mm SLR and processed them in my own "darkroom" (the bathroom at my parents house).  I wanted to be a professional photographer when I grew up so I got an AA degree in photography and took a job as a photographer's apprentice in the fashion industry.  After making more money as a model than an apprentice (a whopping $600), I abandoned that career path after a few months, finished my education, and got a "real job" in the Information Technology industry.

But passion for photography was never lost. For the next 40 years, I continued as an amateur nature photographer. In 2003, I began dabbing my toe into American roots music festivals and started using my photography skill to help promote my growing extended family of American roots artists.

Then in 2015, I got hooked on bluegrass in a big way when I attended the California Bluegrass Association (CBA) Music Camp and Father's Day Festival for the first time. I started singing and learning to play guitar and quickly became a member of a wonderful community of pickers and grinners.

I'm forever grateful to the CBA for starting me on this musical journey and wanted to give something back.  I'm now proud to be an official volunteer photographer for the CBA and part of the team who built and currently maintains their photo website. You can see more of my work on that site here: https://cbaphotos.zenfolio.com/

I still want to be a professional photographer when I grow up.  I'm not sure what direction that will take, but I do plan to eventually put some of my photos up for sale on this site.  That is still a work-in-progress :)
